Taozen
Design and development for a spiritual retreat organisation
Taozen needed a website that reflected the depth of their retreats. Before working together, they relied solely on Instagram, limiting their reach and credibility. I designed and built a custom Webflow website that improved retreat bookings, strengthened their online presence, and allowed their team to update content effortlessly.

The Challenge

Carla and Fred, Taozen’s founders, wanted their website to feel as inviting and authentic as their retreats. They needed a space where people could explore upcoming programs and feel a sense of trust through testimonials. The key challenges:

  • Ensuring easy content management – The client wanted full control over updates, but without any technical knowledge.
  • Meeting a tight deadline – The project expanded from 5 to 10 pages, requiring careful prioritization to stay on track.
My Process & Approach

The Taozen website was built in two phases. Phase 1 focused on launching the core experience—ensuring Taozen had an immediate online presence. Phase 2 expanded the site with additional features and refinements, improving user experience and adding more in-depth content.

Research & Strategy
Analyzed competitor websites to identify usability gaps and market opportunities.
2
Wireframing & UX Design
Crafted an intuitive structure for e-commerce, training enrollment, and stylist applications.
3

Designed a sleek, brand-aligned interface that balanced aesthetics with functionality.
4
Developer Handoff
Provided detailed documentation and design guidelines for the development team working on WordPress.

2
Wireframing & UX Design
Created a sitemap and wireframes to organize the content for seamless navigation.
3
Visual Design
Designed a modern yet minimal interface that balanced bold branding with clarity and accessibility.
4

Collaborated with developers to ensure smooth animations and interactions aligned with the brand identity.
The Result

I established a clear site structure for easy navigation and designed an intuitive, visually appealing experience that reflected Taozen’s warmth and authenticity. Using Webflow’s user-friendly CMS, the Taozen team can now manage content without a developer. I focused on key pages in Phase 1 and expanded the site in Phase 2. The final result was a polished website that enhanced Taozen’s digital presence and improved accessibility to their retreats.

Reflections
This project reinforced the importance of adaptability, clear user experience, and balancing aesthetics with usability. The evolving scope was a challenge, but strong communication ensured a smooth process. If I were to do anything differently, I’d set clearer expectations around timelines. Overall, this was a rewarding project that helped Taozen grow, and I’m grateful to have been part of it.
